I will probably get asked a few hundred times in the next few weeks why I have resigned from the Dot Cotton Club in Cambridge. The official line is that after 15 years it was considered to be enough at one club. There is a lot more to the story than that and it was more of a forced resignation than anything.

About a year ago the Junction employed a new club manager to manage all the Junctions clubs. Before this I had always had complete control of the club from the booking of acts, advertising, marketing and DJ'ing as well. The club manager has been pushing the club in a direction that I do not think is right for the club or the people who go there. I have made very little money from the thing in 15 years but recently the whole push has been towards increasing numbers and increasing profit, which would mean less money spent on Live PA's and cabaret.

Basically the club manager (a straight man) thinks he knows the best direction for the club and the current (gay) promoters are no longer associated with the Dot Cotton Club. I will be there until April and would love to have a big send off on April 29th Cause I really don't think things will be the same after that.
